Al Giardino Toscano is located in the small village of Montecarelli, which is located in the fairytale northern Tuscany, in the historic region of Mugello, where the famous Medici family originated. The Mugello region is home to numerous medieval castles and monuments. Our small village of Montecarelli is located in the Apennine mountain range, 550 meters above sea level. This location and its specific microclimate mean that in hot summers the mountain air is always refreshing. 4 km from our house is the famous hiking trail Via Degli Dei, which leads from Bologna to Florence. We offer a shuttle service for tired hikers. Our house dates back to the 18th century and was built along the great ducal road from Florence to Bologna; for centuries it was an important inn and there was a hotel here, which had a post station for travellers opposite. In the 19th century, Alessandro Manzoni, the famous Italian writer, also stayed here. In the building of our house there are two restaurants known throughout the region, specialising in regional cuisine: Trattoria da Alberto and Antica Osteria di Montecarelli, founded in 1784. At the back of our guesthouse there is a beautiful and huge garden where all our guests can relax. We have been the owners of this extraordinary place for over a year. Before that we were professionally involved in theatre and dance. We ran a theatre in Switzerland for over 15 years. The interior of the house has been extensively renovated. We have tried, thanks to our artistic experience, to preserve the originality and uniqueness of the Tuscan interiors and to accentuate them with the typical colors and furniture of Tuscany. Each room has a King size or Queen size bed and a private bathroom.
